Users of old iOS and Android phone will soon face a huge debacle after the California based chatting application – WhatsApp will soon stop working on their handsets.

Many people who have the old handsets may witness this sudden collapse of the free service application after the company decided to ensure that the app should work on the new operating systems so as to introduce new features and integrating encryption methods.

Anyone using Android 2.1 or 2.2, an iPhone 3GS or iOS 6 will find the app has stopped working. The same will happen to anyone on Windows Phone 7. The move is criticized by many users.

The company earlier stated that all BlackBerry models and some Nokia handsets would not be allowed to use the services on their handsets. But after number of complaints the company decided to extend the support for Blackberry OS, BlackBerry 10, Nokia S40 and Nokia Symbian S60 until June 30 2017.
